I don’t often write things based off of the current festival, or nation month but today is different. I choose my platform to announce to the world that the rainbow has arrived in India. Homosexuality is no longer a crime. Hope you like this, and congratulations!
Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code is a section of the Indian Penal Code introduced in 1861 during the British rule of India. Modelled on the Buggery Act of 1533, it criminalized sexual activities “against the order of nature”, including homosexual sex.
Today is a happy day.
The rainbow is here.
The sun has decided to shine again
with rays of equal rights, humanity and unfiltered love.
Back in 1861, India was caught in a rainstorm,
Love had to pay the price.
One hundred and fifty seven years of forbidden love stories,
And stories that never took place.
Stories of red,
That chose not to stay in the closet,
To show courage and belief in their choices,
To smile and live their best life.
Stories of orange,
of stories that could’ve changed the world,
of possibilities and healing.
Stories of yellow,
A sun in the shadows of the rainstorm,
Trying to break through, trying to show love,
Trying to be the sunlight that drives the darkness away.
Stories of green,
Of things that just are the way are,
That makes you who you are,
Of nature and realities.
Stories of blue,
Of real time peace and no uniforms,
No closets or wardrobes,
Of harmony and the calm in the eye of the storm.
Stories of violet,
Of humans and their souls,
Their will to smile and be thankful,
Of spirit and the ever wanted kindness.
One hundred and fifty seven years ago,
The best of us were criminalized,
And the rest of us waited for this to be undone.
Here we are finally,
On the launch date of the best love stories ever,
On the day of the best of us,
The only day more awaited than the Game Of Thrones winter,
The rainbow is here.
Today is a happy day.

What a beautifully written tribute to the coming of enlightenment to India! I love your use of various colors to show the nuances of belief systems and circumstances. I believe Jesus is celebrating in Heaven because His idea of life lived fully, whole, and joyfully on earth did not include “us” and “them” – but ONE loving mass of humanity, accepting and loving all! Thank God for 🌈 🌈!

It’s really great, I wish my country can be like yours, accepting LGBT as people, not as criminals.

It took us way too many years, but it happened. Yours will too, someday. Keep fighting and smiling till then.

In Indonesia (where I was born and living there) there’s a phrase “In West part of Indonesia more of them are conservative, while in East part of Indonesia a lot of them are more socially liberal” guess that’s what I can remember. Thankfully in Bali the locals are tolerant towards LGBT people. and thanks.

Guard this reborn, beautiful freedom carefully. It will be threatened by insecure, powerful forces as it is today in the USA.

I’m sure every single one of us, whether straight or not, will guard it. I hope USA gets the freedom like it used to have, too.
