Stop fucking poetry.
“it’s easy to be a writer in 2019”
what makes you think it’s easy
to be a writer ever?
Some get traumatized
by bullying or an early divorce or assault
and they write war cries
down on paper. Every syllable, every decibel,
screaming louder than their oppressors.
It’s the scream, the pain, the voice
of survival.
Some stay happy
because everything worked out
and they pen down crooked smiles
and sunshine on paper. They heal you
one hope at a time.
I write about love
because even though my heart has been broken,
it’s still beating
and I find that magical.
I find it amazing that I can live as a thousand pieces
and love new people in new ways.
I find it beautiful that a broken heart
still falls in love when it needs to.
But you’ve beaten poetry into a hard shape,
moulded it a certain way
and anything that isn’t yours,
isn’t poetry at all.
You’ve done to poetry
what you did to god years ago.
But okay, don’t call us writers.
Call us revolutionaries
while we change the way you see the world,
we flap our wings and cause hurricanes
Call us the crazies,
the people who dance without music,
who tell stories to mountains and the moon,
who eat pineapple on pizza.
make the world a grey space,
make it a huge judgment call.
Call us history,
as we write down time, immortalise it,
make a prayer of our own.
Because I’m not just a writer,
I’m a voice
and if it’s easy to be a voice in 2019,
that makes me very happy.

We live in a time where we don’t speak to one another, so many social media platforms but we don’t actually get to know each other, we love to rate each other through likes and retweets. There are some of us who want to talk but can’t find confidants in the people around us. So we turn to writing, whether if it’s bullying or heart breaks or hope, we write how we feel and heal ourselves through our writings. We write to escape reality or face reality! We all have voices whether we choose to use it or not.
“I’m not just a writer, I’m a voice!”
Love it!

Writing is not easy, it’s simple, and simplicity is difficult in 2019.
I too believe becoming a voice is success. Voice that makes a difference or at least a contribution. The types of writers was compared well, writing sorrow on paper vs. loving on paper. 👍

We write not because of story to tell… because we love doing what we do. We weave words and it becomes part of us.
